SEA REX: JOURNEY TO A PREHISTORIC WORLD 3D
Opens September 2, 2011
Audiences are invited on an incredible voyage, 200 million
years back in time, for a face-to-face encounter with
the T-rex of the seas in the new IMAX® 3D
film, SEA REX 3D: JOURNEY TO A PREHISTORIC WORLD, premiering
Friday, September 2, 2011, at the AutoNation® IMAX® 3D
Theater located at the Museum of Discovery and Science
in downtown Fort Lauderdale.
SEA REX 3D: JOURNEY TO A PREHISTORIC WORLD sheds light
on the extraordinary prehistoric underwater world and
its larger-than-life creatures, which, with their daunting
size and natural ability for predation, were ruling the
seas 20 million years before dinosaurs roamed the earth.
Meet Julie, an imaginative young woman on a visit to
a modern-day aquarium, and travel with her back in time
to the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous periods to discover
a little-known universe populated by amazing animals:
the powerful Liopleurodon, the long-necked Elasmosaurus,
the "eye-lizard" Ophthalmosaurus, the ferocious
Prognathodon, and the gigantic 75-foot Shonisaurus.
SEA REX 3D: JOURNEY TO A PREHISTORIC WORLD is the ultimate
combination of science and entertainment, explain
Pascal Vuong and Ronan Chapalain, the films co-writers
and co-directors. We are thrilled to immerse audiences
in a truly unique 3D experience, which goes beyond the
traditional IMAX® documentary thanks to an original
story-driven screenplay that features state-of-the-art
CGI sequences, historical re-enactments and top paleontologists
who bring science to life!
For the films producers Catherine Vuong and Francois
Mantello, Marine reptiles are just as remarkable
and captivating as their terrestrial counterparts, the
dinosaurs, and are ideally suited to the IMAX format
as they, too, are of extraordinary size! Audiences will
get to see some of the most astonishing creatures of
all time glide right off the screen.
